NASA TELECON ON FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM REVIEW OF PLANETARY PROTECTION GUIDELINES, Oct 18, 2019, virtual, 3:30 pm ET (NASA Live)

NASA will hold a media telecon on October 18, 2019 at 3:30 pm ET to discuss the findings and recommendations from its recent review of planetary protection guidelines.  The guidelines were reviewed by a committee chaired by Alan Stern of the Southwest Research Institute.

Audio of the teleconference will be livestreamed on NASA Live.

Participants are:

  • Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate
  • Alan Stern, planetary scientist and associate vice president of the Space Science and Engineering Division, Southwest Research Institute, Boulder, Colorado
  • Tommy Sanford, executive director, Commercial Spaceflight Federation, Washington.
  • Amanda Hendrix, senior scientist, Planetary Science Institute, Lakewood, Colorado

The committee’s report will be posted on NASA’s website at 11:00 am ET (a specific URL was not provided, but NASA’s planetary protection effort is part of its Office of Safety and Mission Assurance).
