Details had not been provided as of January 15, but the emailed notice says the following:
U.S. national security is inextricably linked to space. As President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take office, his administration will be tasked with defining its national security space policy. The Biden administration will need to decide how much to invest in expanding space capabilities, including satellites, how to pursue cooperation with U.S. allies and partners, and how to deter, and if necessary, wage conflict in space. For instance, for decades during the Cold War, the U.S. formulated different ways to convince nuclear adversaries that the cost of conflict would be too high. A pressing question is whether, and how, to apply or tweak those models to space. The future role of the Space Force created under the Trump administration is also a major opportunity for the Biden administration to shape national security space policy. Join POLITICO on Wednesday, January 27 at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT for a virtual deep-dive conversation on space policy and national security in the Biden era. |
