RELOCATION OF CREW DRAGON TO DIFFERENT ISS PORT, May 6, 2023, Earth orbit, 7:00 am ET

On May 6, 2023, the four-person Crew-6 will board the Crew Dragon spacecraft that delivered them to ISS and will bring them home later this year for a short excursion around the ISS to relocate it from the zenith port on the Harmony module to the forward port on that module.

That will free the zenith port for the upcoming arrival of a SpaceX Cargo Dragon, SpX-28, that is bringing new solar arrays to be installed on the exterior of the ISS. The ISS Roll Out Solar Arrays or iROSAs need to be extracted from Cargo Dragon’s unpressurized storage area (the “trunk’) using Canadarm2, which can more easily reach the zenith port.

All four Crew-6 astronauts must be aboard when they undock from the ISS in case anything goes awry and they have to return to Earth instead of redocking.

The plan is for undocking at 7:15 am ET and redocking at 7:58 am ET.  NASA TV coverage begins at 7:00 am ET.

The four crew members are Steve Bowen (NASA), Woody Hoburg (NASA), Sultan Alneyadi (UAE), and Andrey Fedyaev (Roscosmos).
