Event Navigation
Two Russian cosmonauts, Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev, will make a spacewalk at the International Space Station on August 17, 2022 beginng about 9:20 am ET.
NASA TV coverage will begin at 9:00 am ET and air on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.
The spacewalk is expected to last about 6.5 hours as the cosmonauts continue to activate the European Robotic Arm on the new Nauka science module that arrived one year ago.
They will “install cameras on the European robotic arm, relocate an external control panel for the arm from one operating area to another, remove launch restraints near the two end effectors or “hands” of the arm, and test a rigidizing mechanism on the arm that will be used to facilitate the grasping of payloads.”
