SENATE VOTE ON ISAACMAN NOMINATION TO BE NASA ADMINISTRATOR (withdrawn)

Update, May 31: Today the White House announced it is withdrawing Isaacman’s nomination.

Original Entry: Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on Jared Isaacman’s nomination to be NASA Administrator on May 22, 2025 as the Senate was preparing to recess for the Memorial Day holiday.

The Senate will return for legislative business on June 2.

Filing cloture is the first step is bringing a nomination to the floor for a vote.  Isaacman is one of four who were approved to proceed to the next step, a vote to invoke cloture.  Usually they go in order and, indeed, the Duffey nomination is scheduled for a cloture vote on June 2.  After cloture is invoked, the Senate votes on the nomination itself, which can happen quickly or not depending on the Senate schedule and whether there is strong opposition.  Presumably they’ll vote on Isaacman’s nomination sometime during the week of June 2.
