STA EVENT ON PLANETARY DEFENSE WITH LINDLEY JOHNSON AND ANDY RIVKIN, July 28, 2022, DC/virtual, 4:30-6:30 pm ET

The Space Transportation Association (STA) will hold a hybrid event on July 28, 2022 to discuss planetary defense.  Speakers are Lindley Johnson, NASA’s Planetary Defense Officer, and Andy Rivkin, planetary astronomer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.

Their topic is “Planetary Defense and Our Path Forward, and DART Update.”  DART is the spacecraft now enroute to collide with the tiny moon of a small asteroid to demonstrate a technique for altering the asteroid’s trajectory.

The talk is from 5:00-6:00 pm ET, with a reception starting at 4:30 pm and continuing after the talk from 6:00-6:30 for in-person attendees.
