USSF SPACE SYSTEMS COMMAND CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY, Feb 1, 2024, Los Angeles, 1:00 pm ET (webcast)

Update, January 29:  According to a tweet from Space Systems Command today, the event is at 10:00 am PACIFIC Time (1:00 am Eastern) and will be webcast on Facebook.


Original Entry: On February 1, 2024, Gen. Michael Guetlein will formally relinquish command of the U.S. Space Force’s (USSF’s) Space Systems Command at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, CA to Lt. Gen. Phillip Garrant.

Guetlein was recently promoted to General and is now assigned as USSF Vice Chief of Space Operations.

Garrant has been serving as USSF’s Deputy Chief of Space Operations, Strategy, Plans, Programs, and Requirements.

Gen. B. Chance Saltzman, USSF Chief of Space Operations, will preside at the ceremony, which is the first change of command for Space Systems Command since it was established as a USSF field command on August 13, 2021.

Change of command ceremonies often are webcast on DOD’s DVIDS website.
