Event Navigation
The Council of the European Union (EU) will hold a video conference of ministers responsible for space on May 29, 2020.
The announcement on the EU website does not mention the time or a specific agenda, but describes the meeting thusly:
Ministers responsible for space policy will discuss the role of space data, services and technology to foster a green and sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
Even as Europe faces the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the transition to a sustainable and climate neutral economy remains a priority. The green transition has been identified as a key area for investment in the joint roadmap for recovery presented by European Council President Michel and European Commission President von der Leyen on 21 April.
Space technologies are key to addressing the challenges of this green transition. Moreover, the space sector offers opportunities for economic growth and supports the EU’s competitiveness and resilience.
In this context, ministers will exchange views on the:
- use of EU space data and services to foster green recovery
- role of space technology and infrastructure for sustainable development
