WORLD SPACE WEEK, Oct 4-10, 2020, global

The annual World Space Week will take place October 4-10, 2020 with events around the world. The theme this year is “Satellites Improve Life.”
In 1999, the United Nations declared October 4-10 as World Space Week. It recognizes the annual anniversary of the launch of the world’s first satellite, Sputnik, by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957, and the entry into force of the United Nations Treaty on the Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and other Celestial Bodies (the “Outer Space Treaty”) on October 10, 1967.

As part of its celebration of World Space Week, the Space Foundation will hold an event on October 8, 2020 at 11:00 am Mountain Time (1:00 pm Eastern) to induct three commercial adaptions of technology into the Space Technology Hall of Fame. More information is on the event’s website.
