NOMINATION HEARING FOR BILL NELSON TO NASA ADMINISTRATOR, April 2021
The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee held a hearing on April 21, 2021 to consider the nomination of Bill Nelson to be NASA Administrator.
Nelson is a former Senator (2001-2019) and highly regarded by his colleagues. He represented Florida and for the final 8 years of his tenure did so alongside Republican Sen. Marco Rubio. Rubio introduced Nelson at this confirmation hearing along with former Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican from Texas with whom Nelson worked closely on space issues for many years. The strong Republican support for this Democratic former Senator, nominated by a Democratic President, was echoed by other Republicans on the committee.
