Update 2, March 7:  SWF clarifies that this is the 8th National Space Policy Secretariat Symposium on Ensuring the the Safe and Sustainable Use of Outer Space.  The Secretariat is part of the Cabinet Office.

The time and date are correct — March 8, 8:00 am-12:00 pm JST (March 7, 6:00-10:00 pm EST).

Update 1, March 7:  Editor’s Note — the information we have for this event is from the website of the Secure World Foundation, whose Director of Project Planning, Brian Weeden, is scheduled to speak. Original Entry: Japan’s Cabinet Office Space Policy Secretariat will hold the 7th International Symposium on Enduring Stable Use of Outer Space on March 8, 2023 from “8:00 – 12:00.”

We assume that is 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. The website does not specify the time zone, but we assume it is Japan Standard Time, so that would be March 7, 6:00-10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.  If we learn differently, we will update this Calendar item.

The symposium is virtual and will be in English.

The 7th International Symposium on Ensuring Stable Use of Outer Space

This international symposium has been hosted by the Cabinet Office Space Policy Secretariat (former Cabinet Office Space Strategy Office) since 2016 with the aim of deepening discussions on the sustainable development of outer space. For the purpose of deepening discussions on ensuring the stable use of outer space, we invite relevant parties from related countries to discuss issues that should be addressed and possible items to be implemented in the future, share mutual recognition, and promote international cooperation. We are using it as an opportunity to strengthen.
