U.S. SPACEWALK AT ISS, July ?, 2024, Earth orbit

Update, June 28: NASA said today this spacewalk will be at the end of July, but did not provide a specific date. They are still triyng to determine what happened to Tracy Dyson’s spacesuit on July 24 that caused a scrub, the second spacewalk scrub in a row.

Update, June 18: NASA still has not said who will perform this spacewalk, but they will remove and replace a gyroscope assembly, relocate an antenna, and prepare for future upgrades to the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer particle physics experiment. It will begin at 9:00 am ET and last about 6.5 hours. NASA TV coverage begins at 7:30 am ET.

Update: The first of these three spacewalks on June 13 was scrubbed just before it was to begin. This spacewalk will now be the second of two. The other is scheduled for June 24.

NASA still has not indicated which astronauts will perform this spacewalk, but the tasks will be what was assigned to the original June 24 spacewalk.

NASA posted the following information on the ISS blog on June 14:

Original Entry: U.S. astronauts are conducting a set of three spacewalks in June and July 2024.

They are on June 13 (spacewalk  90), July 24 (91), and July 2 (92).

Which astronauts will perform the June 24 and July 2 spacewalks was not announced during a June 12 NASA news conference about the spacewalks.

During the third spacewalk, the astronauts will replace a rate gyro assembly and install a support structure (“modification kit”) to allow future installation of another Roll -Out Solar Arrays (ROSA). It will be the 7th ROSA, with one more to go. The ROSAs supplement the solar arrays that provide electricity for the ISS.
