House Committee to Mark Up Two Space Bills Wednesday (UPDATE 2)
The House Science, Space, and Technology Committee will mark up two space-related bills tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. The bills do not have numbers yet. [UPDATE MARCH 22: This markup was postponed to March 22 because the Federal Government in the DC area was closed on March 21 due to snow. Both bills were approved by the committee.]
The markup session was not posted on the committee’s Republican website at press time, but is on the Democrats’ site. The committee typically webcasts its markup sessions.
The texts of the bills are posted on another House website:
-
- The American Leadership in Space Technology and Advanced Rocketry Act (Brooks): To designate NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center to provide leadership for the U.S. rocket propulsion industrial base.
- The Commercial Space Support Vehicle Act (no sponsor indicated): To amend 51 U.S.C. 50902 to provide for licenses and experimental permits for space support vehicles.
The Government Accountability Office issued a report on regulation of space support vehicles in November 2016 as required by the Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act.
